Getting started…

Welcome!  In the last few years, I’ve decided to try my hand at writing. I wasn’t sure where to start exactly, or how one gets a foothold in the business of writing. I decided to dig in and read what I could about the industry, and to also get some training in the business of writing.  This started off with some community college classes at College of Southern Nevada, and then finished up with a BA degree in creative writing and English at Southern New Hampshire University. While it could be argued that I’m now equipped with all of the tools and skills I need to start my journey as a writer (I have entered a few contests and submitted a few stories to publishers, but am still unpublished), I have decided to take a further step and continue my training with a Master’s of Fine Arts degree. Last month, I was accepted into the Mountain View program, and will be starting there in January. No breaks!  Let’s knock it out!  I’ll post here first once I do get something published, and will relate any other writerly breakthroughs as well.

Cory, You have talent, and I enjoyed reading some of your work. I wish you all the luck with your continued schooling and efforts to publish. I also submitted a short story to a contest and didn’t even make the list of 200 honorable mentions. Sigh. If you ever want to workshop anything with me, just let me know.
