Bio

C.D. Oakes

C. D. Oakes grew up in a small village in the Mojave desert, where he spent a great deal of time in the public library devouring all manner of fiction, but particularly enjoying horror and gritty storytelling. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army, becoming an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician. Following a long career in unexploded ordnance (UXO) remediation, C. D. Oakes shifted gears, moving to Carlsbad, California. He now works in adult literacy in his community.

C. D. Oakes is an active member of the Horror Writer’s Association, and sharpened his writing skills in the HWA’s mentor program, as well as the Mountain View MFA program in southern New Hampshire, and writes short stories that tend to fall under the umbrella of speculative fiction.
