The Sandman Audio-(book? drama?)

I got started with Neil Gaiman’s “Sandman” series in the ’90’s. I didn’t start at the beginning, though. A friend gave me a copy of “Season of Mists”, which was a faux-leather hardback graphic novel. I hadn’t seen anything like it, and hadn’t read anything like it either. I read it a few times, and still go back to it occasionally, as I love the way that different mythologies and folktales are woven together in these stories. So, earlier this year, when Gaiman put together an all-star cast for an audiobook version of the beginning of Dream of the Endless’s adventures with James McAvoy as Morpheus himself, I had to take a look/listen! I wasn’t super familiar with the volumes outside of “Season of Mists”, so the stories were fairly new and fresh to me. They might actually be a better introduction to Gaiman’s Endless characters than the comics and graphic novels that they’re based on, because the art was a little wonky in the early issues, and the narration gives the reader/listener more of a multi-dimensional look at the characters and the story as it unfolds. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone that hasn’t read/listened to the early Sandman stories, but if you like anything else Gaiman has done, I suspect you’ll enjoy this Audible audio-drama. Give it a listen, and let me know what you think!
